Jakki: artist and ice queen
Evening,
Sorry for the longer gap between blogs this week. Blog support got lost in Scotland for half term (with the parting comment from Jakki of "wish i could come too"), but the news in from family is that Jakki continues to be largely at peace, drinking and eating the odd mouthful here and there. Her symptoms seem to be a little better controlled than when at home (she may of course say RUBBISH!) and has even taken to doing the odd stint of art by drawing, partly to aid communication. Barbara took in a clipboard and pencil and there have been some drawings emerge. Maybe one might appear on the blog soon ;).
Perhaps the king item of the last month has been the ice making machine which really helps Jakki drink fluids. Luckily the chief hospice electrician approved it so Jakki has ice 24/7 at the ready!
Jakki remains very much lucid and contributing to choices made each day at Trinity. She gets read any messages that come in and knows how deeply loved she is. We often ask her gently if she would like visitors as many of you are asking understandably. But it is a consistent no thank you and the idea clearly causes stress. So we will keep comms coming as often as possible as we know how hard it is to love our Jakki and want to show her / visit but not be able to see her. Do reach out to her nieces Miranda and Rebecca, nephew Sam or me if you have anything you really want communicated to Jakki as we talk between us and the hospice to work out who might pop in so as not to tire Jakki out.
And for so many that ask after her cats, I think the photos show that they are very much settling into their new home and much looking forward to being released from their short transitionary 'house bound' period to go hunting of country mice.
